Kenya should learn from Cecafa and run to Brazil

Kenya flew to the neighboring country with a lot of optimism and morale after thrashing Seychelles 7-0 on aggregate in a pre-World Cup qualifier, but flew back to Nairobi with their heads down. The Stars scored two goals only and conceded three in the three group matches they played. Congolese-born Bob Mugalia and rookie Victor Ochieng were the Kenyan scorers against Ethiopia on the slippery rained on National Stadium pitch.

We said it will take ten matches and two of those matches have come and gone as Kenya made no mistake by beating Seychelles away and home in a convincing 7-0 aggregate win that confrimed the team as the third to join Nigeria and Malawi in the fourt team Group F stage of the World Cup 2014 qualifiers. The fourth team to join them was Namibia who took care of Djibouti with double 4-0 victories away and at home.

Nigeria, Malawi, Kenya and Namibia.

If there was any doubt that this is where the real stuff begins, one only needs to remember that the reason Kenya was playing Seychelles was because Kenya did not feature amongst the top 28 countries in Africa that had received a bye into the Group Stages. The African football ruling body CAF had proposed and FIFA approved that after the 28 countries were given a bye, the next 12 had to play the last 12  to have only twelve qualifiers join the 28 in the total forty teams that would be in ten groups of four teams each.
